The veteran actor of Indian cinema, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan gave a wonderful message about the book “In-Sight”, which was co-authored by the Chairman of Compassites Mr. V V Ranganathan. The book tells the story about the journey of Sankara Netralaya, the best managed charitable hospital in India. In his message, Mr. Bachchan gave a glimpse of the how the institution started and the progress it has made over the years. He also made an appeal to the public to purchase the book, which is solely aimed at raising funds for Sankara Netralaya in order to improve their services.
The book “In-Sight” talks about the calling and passion of one man (Dr. Badrinath) and how his team of dedicated doctors took forward the mission of fighting against blindness. The book appeals to those who have experienced the work of Sankara Netralaya directly. Shri V V Ranganathan along with George Skaria and Meera Prasad have structured the book uniquely by capturing the spirit of the journey of the state of the art hospital ranging from its humble beginning to its growth to a world class eye care centre. Former President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam has provided an interesting forward to the book, in which he says how the institution can be an inspiration for those who are trying to achieve a big goal.
The book was released by Shri Deepak S.Parekh, Chairman, HDFC at Mumbai on the 20th of March, 2012. The sale proceedings of the book are being used to provide free treatment for the poor and needy. We at Compassites, salute the efforts by our Chairman Mr. VV Ranganathan in bringing this story to light in such a commendable way.
